Foster Parent Liaison: A resource for foster parents

The Foster Parent Liaison is a resource for all county-licensed adoptive, concurrent, and/or emergency foster parents. The Foster Parent Liaison is available to provide assistance to you regarding issues involving a child in your care, or your experiences as a foster/adoptive parent. Questions and concerns about working with the many individuals and agencies you encounter may be directed to me, Lisa Sweet, your Foster Parent Liaison.
In my position, I represent both the agency and the foster parents in matters relating to foster care of children. In many ways, I act as the go-between, looking at both sides of all issues. I have lived in Contra Costa County for many years and have been a foster parent for over four years. During this time, I have been involved in various types of foster care placements including respite, emergency placements, family maintenance, sibling groups, and adoption. I am also an adoptive parent.
As the Foster Parent Liaison, I am available to listen to your concerns; answer questions; respond after business hours in emergencies; assist in obtaining insurance cards; assist with delays in foster care payment; help with clothing allowances; mediate issues with both foster parents and social workers; assist social workers with foster parent concerns and needs; and help locate resources.
